Every copper still starts out as flat sheet metal. At Moonshine Kits, we do the cutting, rolling, and embossing, and then the rest is up to you. You clamp the pieces, run the solder, and turn a stack of copper into a working still on your own bench. It's the most hands-on way to own a copper still, and it costs less than buying one fully built.
Half hardware, half lesson
An EZ Kit teaches you things a finished still never will. Soldering a seam shows you how copper takes heat. Fitting a cap shows you where vapor wants to go. By the time the last joint cools, you know your still inside and out. That's when running it starts to feel less like following a recipe and more like working in a lab. Copper, heat, vapor, and cuts are your variables, and you're the one controlling them. Part alchemist, part scientist, all your own work.

Our EZ Kits run from a 2 gallon model all the way up to 100 gallons, so you can start small or build big from day one.
- Small batch: the 2 Gallon You-Build EZ Kit Advanced Model with EZ Seal Cap and 3 inch thumper port, from $379, and the 6 Gallon EZ Kit, from $499.
- Mid-size: the 10 Gallon EZ Kit from $599, 15 Gallon kits from $629, and the 20, 25, and 30 Gallon Advanced Models from $649, $679, and $699. Each of these Advanced Models has an EZ Seal Cap and a 4 inch thumper port.
- Big runs: the 50 Gallon EZ Kit from $1099, the 60 Gallon from $1200, and the 100 Gallon from $1699.

Owning a copper still is legal in the United States. People use stills to distill water, extract essential oils, and, with a federal permit, make fuel alcohol. Distilling any alcohol requires federal permits from the TTB. Please follow all federal, state, and local laws.

What is an EZ Kit?
An EZ Kit is a copper still that comes as pre-cut, rolled, and embossed copper pieces. You clamp them together and solder them yourself. Doing the assembly yourself saves money compared with buying a fully built still, and you get to know how your still works.
What sizes do the EZ Kits come in?
EZ Kits run from a 2 gallon model up to 100 gallons. Sizes include 2, 6, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50, 60, and 100 gallons. The 2 gallon Advanced Model has a 3 inch thumper port. The 15, 20, 25, and 30 gallon Advanced Models have a 4 inch thumper port and an EZ Seal Cap.
What solder should I use?
We sell a 1 lb. roll of silver solder starting at $79, so you can order it with your kit. If you're not sure how much you need for your size, call us at 603-997-6786.
Should I heat my still with propane or electric?
Both are available. Our propane burner is sized for copper distillers from 6 to 30 gallons and starts at $129. If you want electric heat, our heating element with controller comes in 110v and 220v and starts at $349.
Can I buy a still that's mostly built, or just one piece?
