You trimmed the copper, clamped the seams and ran the solder bead yourself. Now the still is done, and the next step is measuring. A run without numbers is mostly guessing. With a hydrometer you know what is actually coming off your still.
What's in the Set
- Proof & Tralle hydrometer
- Glass test jar
- Protective storage tube
- Easy-to-read scale markings
The hydrometer reads both alcohol by volume (ABV) and proof, so you can use whichever scale you like. The instruments are lab-tested for accuracy. The glass jar holds your sample so you can float the hydrometer and read it at eye level. When you're finished, the tube keeps the thin glass stem safe until the next session.
Why Measuring Matters
Copper, heat and vapor are the variables in your experiment. The hydrometer shows you the results. Take a reading, write it down, adjust and compare it to the last run. Over time those notes turn into knowledge you can repeat. That kind of consistency is what you want, whether you built a 3-gallon EZ kit on the kitchen table or a 100-gallon rig in the shop.
Made for Builders
Our kits save you money because you do the assembly. A small, inexpensive tool like this one gives your hand-built still the precision it deserves. Beginners will find the markings easy to read, and experienced hands will like having a set they can trust.
A quick reminder: owning a still is legal in the US, but distilling alcohol requires federal (TTB) permits. Always follow federal, state and local law. Stills also do honest work making distilled water and essential oils.
