Room to grow
Once you've learned how a small still behaves, you'll probably want more volume to work with. The 10 Gallon EZ KIT is made for that next step. As with all our EZ kits, the copper is cut, rolled and embossed in our shop before it reaches you. Your job is to clamp, fit and solder it into a working still. You save money because you do part of the work.
Your still, your experiment
A still is a simple machine with a lot going on inside. Copper carries the heat and reacts with the vapor. The temperature decides what rises, and your timing decides what you keep. Ten gallons gives you more to watch on each run. You can test an idea, write down what happened and improve on it next time. It's part craft and part chemistry, and it's all in your hands.
Good to know before you build
- You'll solder the copper yourself, so torch experience helps.
- Clamp and dry-fit the pieces before you make any joint permanent.
- Work somewhere ventilated and fire-safe.
- Take your time. A clean joint matters more than a fast one.
Know the rules
It's legal to own a still in the US. Stills can distill water and extract essential oils, and they can make fuel alcohol with the right permit. Distilling spirits requires federal (TTB) permits. Follow federal, state, and local law.
