Good experiments depend on control. This electric heating element and adjustable temperature controller let you set your heat precisely and get the same output run after run. There's no open flame and no propane tank. You plug the still into the right outlet and focus on what's happening in the copper.
Choose your element
- 110v: for stills up to 6 gallons. Plugs into a standard household wall outlet.
- 220v (3800W): for stills 10 gallons and up. Runs on a 220v outlet, like a dryer or range circuit, and gives you more power for faster heat-up.
For stills over 60 gallons, we recommend running two 220v elements for the fastest heating.
What's included
- Electric heating element, 110v or 220v (3800W), with standard 1-inch NPT pipe thread

Why go electric?
Electric heat gives you precise temperature control, consistent output every run, and plug-and-play convenience with no open flames. If you assembled your own still to save money, adding this element is a simple, clean way to get steady results. The kit was designed for American Copper Works copper stills, so match the voltage to your still's size. Prices start at $349. If you want to confirm which version fits your setup, call 603-997-6786.
Know the rules
Owning a still is legal in the US, and stills are also used for water and essential oils. Producing any alcohol, including fuel alcohol, requires a federal TTB permit. Follow federal, state, and local law.
